Come take a look around…

The house here dates back to 1816, and takes its name from Captain John Parish, who built the property with bounty from the capture of a Spanish treasure ship. Over the following centuries, Parish’s House has been in the care of several distinguished owners – from decorated military men, to shipping magnates to the keeper of the King’s purse – and for the last decade and more, it’s been our family home.

When it came into our lives, the house and its grounds were in need of some serious care and attention, but we could immediately see why it has enchanted so many people. Its design manages to mix sweeping grandeur with a feeling of warmth and intimacy, and I was thrilled to be able to put my interior design training to good use and hurl myself into a full-scale renovation project. The house is now an elegant and happy place, where we’re proud to be raising our two boys. But it’s the grounds and the gardens that have brought us the most joy, and that we can’t wait to share with you on your special day.

Magnificent trees and Skittles With Scarlatti There are eight acres of grounds here, including some truly majestic trees that have stood here for hundreds of years. I’ve worked with a small team of gardeners, including a gold-medal winner at Chelsea and Hampton Court, to coax the walled garden back to life and to create a varied and colourful experience for anyone taking a walk through our woodland, or our manicured lawns and meadows. One of my favourite places to sit in the evenings is the sweep at the front of the house, where you’ll find a life sized bronze sculpture and water feature from contemporary artist Philip Jackson. Skittles With Scarlatti is at once dramatic and tranquil, and she makes a wonderful statement entrance to our lovely home.

The gardens here were made to be shared, and we’re so excited to be able to provide a stunning backdrop for your happiest memories. Get in touch with our team to talk to us about your plans, and let us help you create the garden celebration you’ve been dreaming of.
